This virtual workshop, from 9 a.m. to noon July 12, will focus on increasing participant knowledge and building capacity to understand diverse identities and experiences. Attendees will learn common identity-related language.
With a focus on adolescent or young adult identity development, participants will look at the social and environmental experiences LGBTQAI+ adolescents face, such as navigating peer and family relationships, and socio-cultural-political messages, and the implications these experiences have on their health and well-being.
Participants will also look at professional organizations (NASW, APA, etc.) guidelines pertaining to the professional and ethical mandate to support and respect SOGI diversity. Content will present and examine various components of offering affirming care to LGBTQA+ adolescents.
